Solution Focused Coaching Course
Accredited, practical, solution focused coaching
Train with SFTA, where neuroscience meets coaching. Our nine week programme gives you the skills and confidence to coach for real change, helping people move forward and achieve meaningful goals.
People choose coaching for many reasons. Some want a new career that offers flexibility and purpose. Others want to add coaching to their therapy or wellbeing practice. Many are drawn to the chance to support others to grow, develop and find clarity.
This training is also popular with leaders and professionals who want practical coaching skills to support teams and business development. Whatever your background, this course offers both personal growth and professional progression.
By the end of the course you will have a complete toolkit of solution focused coaching methods that you can use in personal, workplace and business settings.
Course overview
This is a live online training programme delivered on Zoom across nine modules. Each session is interactive and practical, with opportunities to practise coaching from the very first module. The format fits around your life while still giving you the structure of a recognised professional qualification.
You will learn how to set goals, use the GROW model, and apply solution focused techniques such as scaling, future pacing and reframing. Each module builds on the last, so your learning is clear, structured and easy to apply. Alongside practical coaching skills you will explore neuroscience, emotional intelligence, resilience, stress management and growth mindset. Reflective practice runs throughout to build confidence and self awareness.
By the end of the nine weeks you will not only understand coaching, you will be ready to use it effectively with clients.
Why solution focused coaching
Coaching is one of the fastest growing professional fields. People value coaching because it creates change, builds confidence and unlocks potential.
Training with SFTA gives you more than coaching techniques. You gain an evidence based approach grounded in neuroscience and supported by practical strategies that work in real life settings.
For therapists, this is a way to expand your practice and attract a wider client base.
For professionals, it provides structured methods for enhancing performance and wellbeing in teams.
For those seeking a new direction, it offers a flexible career with meaningful impact.
With the demand for accredited coaches growing, this is an investment in your career and in your ability to support others effectively.

Your Qualification
On successful completion of all nine modules, the required assessments and 10 hours of coaching practice, you will receive the SFTA Certificate in Solution Focused Coaching.
The course provides 61 hours of accredited coach training and has been independently accredited by the Association for Coaching (AC) at AACT – Accredited Award in Coach Training level.

Association for Coaching Membership
As a student on an AC-accredited training programme, you will also be eligible for complimentary Association for Coaching membership, giving you access to a range of AC resources and professional development opportunities, including learning resources, events and CPD opportunities.
This gives you the opportunity to begin engaging with a professional coaching body while you are still training.
After You Qualify
Your SFTA qualification and the accreditation of the course are separate from becoming individually accredited as a coach by the Association for Coaching.
Once you have successfully completed the SFTA Certificate in Solution Focused Coaching, you will have completed 61 hours of AC-accredited coach training.
If you choose to take the next step, you can then work towards your own AC Foundation Coach Accreditation by building the additional coaching experience and fulfilling the other requirements set by the Association for Coaching.
Individual AC accreditation is therefore optional – you do not need to achieve it in order to receive your SFTA qualification – but the course provides a recognised pathway should you wish to pursue professional AC accreditation in the future.
Hands-on coaching practice
From the first module you will experience both sides of the coaching relationship. Every session includes practice where you apply new tools straight away. You will also complete peer coaching outside class to build confidence and readiness.
By graduation, you will have real world experience, not just theory.

Learning and Assessment
There is no formal final written examination. Instead, your learning and development are supported and assessed throughout the nine-week programme.
Each module combines teaching with practical coaching experience. Every module includes at least 60 minutes of coaching practice, giving you the opportunity to practise the skills and techniques you are learning with other students.
As part of the qualification, you will complete a minimum of 10 hours of coaching practice. The coaching practice completed during the live modules counts towards these 10 hours, with any remaining hours completed through practice between modules.
Between modules, you will also complete a range of guided self-study activities, including:
- Coaching practice
- Selected reading and research
- Think Pieces to encourage reflection and critical thinking
- Learning Task Sheets and practical exercises
- Guided self-study linked to each module
- Reflective practice to consider your developing skills and confidence as a coach
The emphasis throughout the course is on learning by doing. Rather than preparing for a final examination, you will continually apply what you are learning, reflect on your practice and develop your skills across the nine modules.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course. We are looking for motivated people who are interested in developing professional coaching skills, whether you are completely new to coaching or looking to add coaching to your existing work.
